National Leadership Seminar

What is NLS?

The National Leadership Seminar is a weekend conference on the skills and attributes of leadership. It is intended primarily to enhance the leadership skills of the Order of the Arrow's key youth and adult members as they seek to improve their services to the Boy Scouts of America and the greater community. The weekend format is designed to complement the longer, more detailed Wood Badge and Junior Leadership Training Programs. Near the end of the seminar, participants make a contract with themselves to apply the skills studied in the seminar on projects in their lodge, council, and community.

2012-2013 Section Officer Elections

Section C-7 Officer Elections for the positions of; Section Chief, Section Vice-Chief, & Section Secretary will begin on Sunday April 29th, 2012 at around 8:45am. The Conclave Schedule will detail the location at camp of the election. Elected Section Officers term will serve until an election is held at the following Section Conclave, planned for April 26th to 28th, 2013. To be eligible for election a candidate must meet the following requirements in accordance with the latest printing of the Field Operations Guide:

Be a registered member, in good standing, of the Order of the Arrow and the Boy Scouts of America in a council within the section.
Have the approval, in writing and in advance of being nominated, of his council Scout executive or council Scout executive’s designee. Written approval for a candidate must be submitted by 5pm on Saturday April 28th to the Section Adviser.
The member’s council must be in good standing (renewed its OA charter) with the national office.
Must be younger than 21 during his entire term of office

Area 7 Camp Promotions Initiative

This year Section C-7 is kick starting camping in Area C-7. One of the purposes of the Order of the Arrow is to promote camping, responsible outdoor adventure, and environmental stewardship as essential components of every Scout’s experience, in the unit, year-round, and in summer camp. We are currently working on completing an Area wide Where to go Camping Guide to help start this endeavor. Below is a link to our info sheet for more information.

Region Cup

This November our Section Officers traveled to Rochester, Indiana for Section Officer Seminar. At the end of SOS we were awarded the Region Cup. The Region Cup was created to recognize the best section in the Central Region. We would like to thank all of the Arrowmen in our section that helped us win this great award. We are proud to be recognized as being "Best in the Midwest".

NOAC

The National Order of the Arrow Conference is fast approaching! More than 8,000 Arrowmen will travel to East Lansing, Michigan, home to the 2012 National Order of the Arrow Conference at Michigan State University. Arrowmen will participate in a 6 day conference focusing on top notch training sessions, cool recreational opportunities, attending evening shows full of theatrics and special effects, and checking out the exciting programs NOAC has to offer.

NOAC will be held from July 30 through August 4th, 2012. We hope that all 8 lodges in Section C-7 will send large contingents to show that we are Best in the Midwest! Make sure to talk to your lodge chief and lodge advisor to get signed up!

Project 2013

Project 2013 is recruiting 700 Arrowmen to serve on the Order of the Arrow staff at the 2013 National Scout Jamboree at The Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve. Project 2013 will be comprised of three groups including the Jamboree Trek Guides, Day of Service Guides, and the OA Service Corps. All three groups will support a variety of new and traditional activities at the jamboree site. This will be the largest OA Service Corps contingent in history and the Order is looking for the best Arrowmen in the organization to join Project 2013.

OA High Adventure

The Order of the Arrow High Adventure Programs are looking for arrowmen to go on treks next summer. There are four different treks you can choose from that are based out of the 3 National High Adventure Bases. These treks are all two weeks in length and are significantly cheaper than normal treks. Besides not only being one of the best values in scouting they are also life changing experiences for the arrowmen who have attended in the past.
